We are hiring a Senior Executive, Internal Audit to support regional audit oversight with a strong focus on data analysis, risk signal identification, and audit quality review.
In this role, you will work alongside with local Internal Audit teams across multiple countries, who are responsible for on-ground execution, while you provide analytical insights and oversight at a regional level.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain regional exposure and develop capabilities in data-driven auditing, risk identification, and audit quality review.
While this role is not primarily focused on routine end-to-end audit execution, there will be opportunities to participate in operational audits where required.
Job Description
The role would be based in Malaysia. The scope of work would entail regional involvement for all the entities under the group Cluster with direct reporting line to the Cluster Group Internal Audit Manager/Senior Manager.
Data Analysis
Perform data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risk areas.
Support development of insights from audit and business data to support risk assessment and decision-making.
Risk Signal Identification
Assist in identifying emerging risks across multiple countries.
Escalate key observations and risk indicators to the audit team in a timely manner.
Audit Quality Review
Review selected audit working papers and reports from local teams to ensure consistency, accuracy and quality in audit work.
Highlight gaps, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement in audit execution.
Regional Coordination
Support consolidation of audit findings across multiple entities.
Assist in identifying recurring issues or common themes.
Collaborate closely with local teams to gather information to enhance understanding of business processes.
Stakeholder Support
Work with local IA teams to clarify observations and improve outputs.
Support communication of audit insights to relevant stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across various departments.
Ad-hoc Reviews & Investigation
Support special reviews, investigations, or management requests as assigned
Participate in on-site assignments at international entities where required
Assist in fact-finding, data gathering, and analysis during investigations
Operational Audit Review
Conduct end-to-end walkthroughs to identify risks, control gaps, and improvement opportunities covering the organisation’s control environment and operational processes.
Following the Internal Audit Methodology as a guide, design and execute testing plan to assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls.
Prepare accurate, objective, clear, concise, constructive, complete and timely audit report and upon review and approval by the immediate superior, communicate results thereof to the appropriate parties.
Establish and maintain a tracker to monitor the disposition of results communicated to management.
Establish a follow-up tracker to monitor and ensure that management actions have been effectively implemented or that management has accepted the risk of not taking action.
Participate in the internal control projects if necessary.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent in related discipline – relevant professional qualification (MIA/CPA/CIA/CFE/ACCA)
2 – 5 years of audit experiences with exposure to operational audit. Relevant experience in the Big 4 will be highly preferred.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work with and interpret large datasets.
Exposure to data analytics or audit tools (e.g. Excel, ACL, Power BI, Python) is preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse cultures and regions.
Strong execution and problem-solving skills with the focus on timely completion of tasks which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing with strong attention to details.
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure while managing interpersonal dynamics.
Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills.
Experience in auditing commercial industries such as logistic, transportation and retail industries are preferred.
Confident, resourceful, analytical, and willing to learn. A strong team player with an innovative mindset.
Ability to identify patterns, ask the right questions, and connect data insights to business risks
High sense of integrity and confidentiality.
Excellent command of written and verbal English. Proficiency in other languages is an added advantage.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally on short notice when required.
